Being an office manager for a company like PPS can be pretty demanding. Not only am I expected to keep the office running smoothly, I help out with preparing meeting rooms, assist with the press work and am cultivating a reputation as a coffee-making wizard.
However, I’ve also got another career on the go at the moment – how ‘independent woman’ of me, I know. When I’m not behind my desk at PPS, I work on a number of musical projects and am a very, very busy session saxophonist.
The perks of being a musician are incredible. One minute I may be performing as part of a collaborative group in a bar in Brixton, the next I could be performing at a festival for a massive band. This summer was incredible. I supported the Ting Tings onstage at Glastonbury (apparently in front of a crowd 60,000-strong), Oxygen festival in Ireland and Coachella in LA, as well as appearing with them on their UK tour. I also perform alongside Bryan Ferry, and one weekend in June, I found myself flying to St Tropez to play at an exclusive wedding for millionaires and beautiful women – very James Bond! I’ve played for him for two years and have been to some truly amazing places.
Once I got back, I came into the office and my first job was to make tea and coffee for six in the boardroom for a 9.30am meeting.
The fun never stops. I wouldn’t change a thing.
