Caledonian Challenge update – Best foot forward

March 19th, 2010 by Sam Schofield in Blog

SnowmanOnly three months to go until Team PPS sets off from Fort William with 54 miles stretching out before us.  The Summer Solstice may seem distant, but it is time for us to get serious and start putting some miles into our legs.

The Manchester office contingent (Sam and Kevin) spent a day walking on the Pennine Way from Edale to Glossop (14 miles)  this is normally a easy route but the Southern Pennines are still very much in the grip of winter.  As you can see from the photo, there was plenty of snow around and not much of a view.  As a result the map, compass and GPS came in very handy!  Cross country skis may have been useful.

We thought that we were doing well until we were passed by a couple of fell runners in shorts.  I’m not too proud to say that I was glad to be head to toe in Gore Tex.
