Somerset is becoming something of a hub of PPS activity. We are not only working on the largest potential construction project in the South West of England – the development of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point – but PPS co-founder and director, Charles St George, is also running the Taunton half marathon on 11th April, dressed as a banana, to raise money for the Somerset-based charity Escape Group that helps the families of children in the county with special needs.
This is not Charles’s first fund raising effort for Escape. Two years ago he took part in a sponsored virtual race between cyclists and rowers in Taunton town centre which pitted the cyclists travelling by road from Taunton to Cardiff, with the rowers racing up the River Parrett and crossing the Severn Estuary. Several thousand pounds were raised for the charity on that occasion.
This time, a group of intrepid Escape runners will be donning their banana outfits and trudging around the streets of Somerset’s County town.
Charles’s target for the race? Raise a bit of money and avoid slipping up on any banana skins!
