Caledonian Challenge – Beware the Highland Midge

June 8th, 2010 by Sam Schofield in Blog

Only a few days remain before the plucky PPS five cross the start line at Fort William.  After many weeks of training across the UK, John, Julian, Karl, Ross and myself are making our final preparations.  Collectively, we have covered hundreds of miles but now we face the challenge of 54 miles within 24 hours over some demanding terrain – follow this link for a profile of the route.

To add some extra spice, the weather in the Highlands is always unreliable and there is the threat of that awesome beastie, the Highland Midge.  Glory or ignominy await, along with a few hundred midge bites and the prospect of either sunburn or trenchfoot – hopefully not both!

We are raising funds for some of the UK’s most isolated communities – thanks to everyone who has sponsored us so far and wish us luck.  To make a donation, follow the link http://www.caledonianchallenge.com/teams/TeamPPS
