Ely residents will get to taste the difference between Sainsbury’s and Tesco by 2012 following the decision to support a 40,000 square foot new Sainsbury’s store in the city yesterday.
The new store was approved by an overwhelming 10-2 at committee, with support from the Ely Traders Association, Ely Society, Women’s Institute and the residents of Bell Holt sheltered housing accommodation across the road.
This is the second new store planning consent that the Sainsbury’s & PPS partnership have achieved this year – a gain of approximately 100,000 sq ft of new retail floor space.
